When Esau choose to satisfy his belly due to hunger, he despised his birthright over a plate of pottage. That could be one reason God did not choose him to carry the covenant. God preferred Jacob over Esau because He looked at the nature of Jacob and saw a fighter, somebody who would always protect what is handed to him and even increase it. But He looked at Esau’s nature and saw a compromiser. God wanted to hand down the covenant that will lead to the coming of Christ to a capable hand. 

The covenant that He cut with Abraham, and was passed to Isaac, was supposed to be handed down to the elder of the twins, but God rejected Esau. If Esau had received the covenant, it is possible for him to have traded it for something trivial.

When you have a compromising stand, you disqualify yourself of heavenly blessings and covenant. You thought you went scot free of a particular sin because nobody saw you, you have only succeeded in cancelling your name from God’s list of honor. There are many persons who were enlisted for glory, but they never made it, because, somewhere along the line, they exchanged the glory for shame. Sin will make a man loose his reward. BE WARNED.

It is amazing to know that Christ is the light that is the life by which we live. Our text tells us that Christ is the one who light up our lives (verse 4). If you have this life, you should be like a transformer that distributes energy to places in darkness for light to dispel darkness. So, the greater the light you carry, the greater the impact you should make upon lives.
Everyday you step out, you are either on a mission for God or for your flesh. So in whatever you do, remember that you can either be a light for the Lord or the reason darkness prevails. May the Lord receive glory from your life.
Many of the time, most of us have no dealings with God about our agenda for each day, we are out on a pursuit to accomplish our own fleshy desires including trying to make more money. Most people preoccupy themselves with trying to make it big and seldom do anything about revealing the glory of God. But amazingly, the Lord is raising millionaire and billionaires right now, and they are persons who He has tested and proved and found worthy. He is right now taking them to places of honor, because when they get there, they are not going to compromise. It is obvious that no matter what, they will still proclaim Him as Lord, and would not get too sophisticated to keep Him out. They know that they are what they are by His grace, and they will not be ashamed to let everybody know that.
Do not make the mistake of keeping God out because those He wants to bless are those who will bring glory to His name. If you are ready to shine for Him, you will walk in the glory.

² For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

When we consider all that is happening around us it is obvious that there is so much darkness upon the earth now, the devil is attacking like never before. Sin is no longer concealed, but on parade. What people used to do in secret, they are now so proud of and are now fighting for the freedom to do so without any restraint. If you speak against them, you will be labelled as a hater. Gross darkness is upon the earth and people are buying into all kind of nonsense. The thicker the darkness, the greater the opportunity for your light to be seen. There is no better time than now for the glory of God to be made manifest. If you are anointed, this is the time heaven expect you to bring glory to God.

There is no light too small. As the darkness gets stronger, the smallest light you have becomes much more effective than ever before. Wherever you find yourself, please be conscious that you have a place of ministry. This is why Jesus said, let your light so shine. He needs your light right now, and for you to be who He expects you to be.

Sometimes, we do not shine because we get involved in all kinds of nonsense and petty things like gossip, when the Lord is expecting to reveal His glory by the words of our mouths.

You have that light on your inside, let it shine, do not put it under the bushel. The Lord wants the world to see His glory, but the world cannot see it if you deny Him the wonderful privilege of revealing His glory through your life. LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE.

Our text for today admonishes us to arise to a greater dimension of glory. You cannot stay where you are and walk into a greater dimension of glory. There must be an attempt to rise up from where you are to go into deeper realm and higher height of glory.

Sometimes, circumstances of life can make you depressed, especially when you see others getting their breakthroughs. Things may be lining up for them, left, right and center, and they have testimonies, but you seem to be like a broken down vehicle on the highway. If you have been battered by the circumstances of life, today’s scripture is for you. Looking at all the happenings from January to this day, you may have thought what was prophesied over your life would have come to pass. But do not give up, be encouraged and make up your mind to rise to a new life. Stop complaining and murmuring, get out of it. Joy is a choice, sadness is also a choice, it is all up to you.

If there is anything you can do to get back your confidence do it. It is often when you feel like you are on top of the world that the devil wants you to be sad. He will do everything he can to make you depressed because he knows the joy of the Lord is your strength, and he knows that as long as you walk in the strength of the Lord, he is in trouble. You have a destiny that is waiting to manifest, but until you catch the light and run with it, your destiny will be passive. You can do something about it when you choose to rise to a new life and become radiant with God’s glory.

¹⁶ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven

When the scripture for today speaks of us being the light of the world it is actually talking about a divine enablement given to us by the Holy Spirit. Verse 16 begins with the word “Let,” this is very important to note as it depicts choice. This obviously tells us that it is a choice to shine, and that choice is ours. If you decide to, your light will so shine that people will see your moral excellence. Some Christians have a battered reputation, their testimony cannot is not strong enough to rebuke sin. Each morning you leave the house, you have packaged a message for your generation. How you dress up, introduces your message. You can dress up in a way that set people on the freeway of carnality. At the end of the day, you have not helped somebody find the glory but unfortunately, you enticed them to come down from the glory. Beloved, this is happening in our midst as Christians. We must always be conscious of the message that we pass to people.

When we step out, we must be dressed to reveal the glory? You can dress nice without taking somebody out of the path of glory. Some so called Christian men love to talk deceitfully to ladies. Some of such ladies become so gullible, believing their lies and so end up heart broken. You can talk nice and sincerely decent without giving somebody false hope. When the glory of God is upon our lives, we will not go with the flesh, instead, we become the light to shine forth the glory of God. Do your best to keep shining for Jesus.

¹⁴ Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

¹⁵ Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

¹⁶ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

From our text for today, Jesus speaking to his disciples makes us to understand that we are the light of the world, a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden. He did not say you are a light of the world, but that “you are the light of the world.” It means you are the hope of the world (Col. 1:27), so, you should dispel darkness wherever you go. You cannot have the light and put it under a bushel but rather you put it on a candle stand to give light to all. If you are the light of the world, anyone in darkness around you should have direction because of you. If you claim to be the light of the world and people around you are comfortable in sin, beloved, you are not the light Jesus is talking about. Because John chapter one says, the light shines in darkness and darkness cannot comprehend it.  So, there should be a clear difference between you and unbelievers.

When there is a problem and this light shows up, there is immediate solution, when there is confusion and this light shows up there is clarity and direction. Your presence anywhere; be it at home or work, should be the answer to set people free from harassment and oppression. The light we carry is the divine enablement of the Holy Spirit.

DIVINE ENABLEMENT BY THE HOLY SPIRIT (PART 2)

³⁸ How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

In continuation of our study of the text, the scriptures also recorded that Jesus went about doing good. If doing good was just physical good then anybody can do it. But there is a great difference in what He did because He did this by the power of the Holy Spirit and this good was not just a feeding and clothing program, though it included it, but it was such supernatural manifestation that was strong enough to set the captives free from the oppressions of the devil.

What He did is seen to be more of those spiritual things like, healing the sick, setting the captives free but He also had a charitable work that met the physical needs of many. If you read carefully, you will notice that when the woman with the alabaster box poured the perfume on Jesus, Judas said in his heart, it could have been sold and the money given to the poor. By reason of this statement it will not be wrong to say that part of the reason Jesus always had a crowd with Him, was because He was always blessing lives physically and spiritually.

If you have the empowering of the Holy Spirit as it was the case with Jesus, then it is expected that you too should be able to bless souls spiritually and physically. He was anointed and it was by the anointing he was doing good. If it is the same Holy Spirit that was upon Jesus that dwells in our mortal body, how come we are not getting great results? You have been going from one place to the other what results and testimonies do you have?
