TAKING CHARGE OF YOUR TERRITORY (PART 4) May 30^th

TEXT: 39: Genesis 39:1-6 (KJV)
¹  And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.
²  And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
³  And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.
⁴  And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.
⁵  And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.
⁶  And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.

There are things that can be accomplished by our natural abilities but there are others that can only be accomplished by some supernatural enablement. Not all can produce the supernatural result because it only exists in a realm accessible to a few. This realm is called the glory realm. The Gory realm is the womb of the supernatural, anything outside this womb operates by a different set of law. When a man lives in the glory realm he begin to manifest that which affects things in the natural realm in the most unusual way and miracles happens. This is when others begin to realize that there is something special about the individual. When Potiphar saw that the LORD was with Joseph and that this same God is the reason everything under Joseph prospers, joseph immediately found grace in his sight and he made Joseph the overseer over all that he had. When Potiphar did this he had certain expectations and he was not disappointed because the scripture says in verse 5 “And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.”  When a man has such uncommon testimony as Joseph had he begin to rise from one degree of glory to another and in no time they will rise to the highest possible degree of glory. There is no limit to what you can accomplish in life if would let God take the dominant role in your life. Refuse to settle for a normal life, reach out to the high life of glory and you will witness uncommon grace and glory.

Acts 2:1-3

“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place, and suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance”. NKLV.

 One accord from the root word means “To Be Of Like Passion”. The believers where in one accord in Acts chapter 2, God waited till when they were of one accord and when God saw that, the Holy Spirit came on them. The bible says the house was filled, suddenly there was a sound and the Holy Spirit of the Lord filled the house were they where and then the presence of God like cloven tongues of fire rested on each of them.

PRACTICAL ISSUE

Can two walk together except they agree?

When a man truly has a living relationship with God it will become obvious in the eyes of others because the Lord will begin to create a strong distinction between his life and work and that of others. When this begins to happen others will be forced to pay attention to him and the power that is behind his success. The scripture in verse 3 says “And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.” It became obvious that Joseph could not have gotten the extraordinary results he got except something mysterious is at work in his life. His master has to acknowledge that it is the presence of the Lord upon him because there must have been others who have been assigned to the same responsibility as he but they did not produce the result Joseph got. It could not have been good luck because the result must have been very unusual for the scripture to say Joseph was a prosperous man. It could not be attributed to good luck because the scripture also says “…and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.” If he prospered in all that he did then it cannot be luck. Luck cannot show up always, it is a factor of chance and probability, but with Joseph it was in all that he did. Any man that is like this is bound to take the lead in whatever he does and this was clear in Joseph’s life because the scriptures further recorded in verse 4 the following “ And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.” This can become your testimony if you would only let God lead.

Life can be sweet and beautiful if we would allow God lead the way. Often than not many of us are so arrogant in our determination to prove that we can handle the challenges of life ourselves. We may even claim to believe in God but would seldom ask the help of God on various task until we are now having an obvious embarrassment starring us in the face. God is not your emergency rescue number when you are in trouble. He want to lead your life away from the troubles of life that your finite understanding is not capable of comprehending. The various challenges of life can become glorious opportunities for you to smile in victory if you would do all you can to have the presence of God in your life like it was testified of Joseph in our text. Verse 2 says “²  And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.”  What an amazing testimony? Here is a man who just went through one of the most dehumanizing experience of life still taking the lead after his brothers sold him into slavery. But instead of being grumpy and dejected he encouraged himself in the assurance that with the presence of God he can still make it. The word of God says “…and he was a prosperous man” the amazing thing about this prosperity is that it was in a strange land where he was sold as a slave. Your testimony in life can be very outstanding if you are careful to always have the Lord lead you. You can take charge of whatever territory you occupy if you determined to allow your life to be continually overshadowed by the power of the Most High. You cannot be with the Most High and occupy the lowly places of life.

The call to leadership is a call to take up an awesome responsibility that will help define the destiny of many. History is full of the record of what people did or did not do with the divine privilege given them. Joseph came into Egypt as a slave but from the time he was given the smallest task the difference began to manifest. The glory of God in him made the difference and empowered him to take charge of his territory. Under his watch nothing went wrong, they only got better. The major distinguishing factor can be found in verse 2 which say “²  And the LORD was with Joseph,....” the presence of the Lord with Joseph made the difference. You cannot be disadvantaged or in the minority if the Lord is with you. Too many people try to become somebody or accomplish something in life without seeking the assurance of the awesome presence of the Lord. When any man embarks on a journey with the full assurance of God’s presence he becomes as bold as a lion. If you must take the lead and become a dominant figure in your field of endeavor, you must separate yourself from all that will take away the presence of God for your life. If any man would do this it is very possible for him to become and achieve any dream. If you chose to be on God’s side, the Lord will prove to the rest of the world that he is on your side. 

ACCOMPLISHING THE TASK (PART 6)

²⁷  Neither did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Bethshean and her towns, nor Taanach and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns: but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.
²⁸  And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out.
²⁹  Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.
³⁰  Neither did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became tributaries.
³¹  Neither did Asher drive out the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob:
³²  But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: for they did not drive them out.

There are many people in history from whom we can learn from their mistakes, we don’t have to add ours to the number. Verse 27 starts with “Neither did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Bethshean…” This is a list of failures and average and anyone who desire an exceptional testimony must do all they can to be above this category of people. We are the architect responsible for the design of the degree of success we finally get categorized in. whoever desire to open a new chapter in the record books and carve a niche for him/herself must be prepared to achieve what others are too scared to consider. “No venture, no success” is an expression which recognizes the fact that success require some element of risk and adventure. It is very possible that many of the children of Israel expected their enemy to easily give up their possession but they were surprise that it was required for them to fight for their promised land. In life, those who refuse to fight never make it to their promise land. If you must make it to your promise land you must be ready to wage war against failure, the average mentality, poverty and every other force that is contending with your destiny. It is true that the Lord has promised that He will fight for us but for that to happen you need to step out in faith for faith without work is dead, being alone (James 2:17-20).

TO HIM THAT BELIEVETH ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE

Mark 9:23,

“And Jesus said, (you say to me), if you can do anything? (Why,) all things can be (are possible) to him who believes!” AMP.

        In the above book and chapter, this man brought his son who was epileptic, deaf and dumb to the disciples and they couldn’t do anything. Jesus came down the mount, met the Pharisees questioning the disciples and then he asked what happened, and He was angry that the disciples couldn’t handle the situation, and then He said bring the boy to me. As the boy approached Him, the presence of God overwhelmed him but before that the father came and said help me, help me. He said to Jesus if you do something. Jesus said to him if you can believe, and the man said I believe but please help my unbelief, he confessed the real conflict in his heart.

PRACTICAL ISSUES

Jesus can take care of the unbelief inside of you even as you confess it.
