UNDERSTANDING THE WORD (PART 5).

DECEMBER 1ST

TEXT: Genesis 13:9-18King James Version (KJV)

9 Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.

10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.

11 Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.

12 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.

13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.

14 And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:

15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.

16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.

17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.

18 Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord.

When you are going through some difficult times, several options will begin to come to your mind, but this is when you need to be very careful. There is no way you will be able to, by your wisdom, conclude on what God started. Don't start in the spirit and end in the flesh.

This is a time we need to be careful not to jump at several so-called opportunities, you must ask yourself what those opportunities have to do with God’s agenda for your life. It is going to be difficult for you if you do not know God’s agenda for your life, because you will be easily swayed.

This is why you constantly have to fix your eyes on Jesus, so you can be prepared for what God wants to do with and through you.

Beloved, do all and anything you need to do to prepare yourself. You will have nothing to loose. Esau, because of a plate of food despised his birth right, he thought he could eat his cake and have it. Even when his father Isaac was determined to bless him, before he came, the blessing had been taken. If you choose to be like Esau, even when people desire to bless you, it will become impossible for them to carry it out.

Live the life that God can bless without you having any concern, so that you can show forth His glory. Shalom!

TEXT: Genesis 13:9-18 King James Version (KJV)

If you were Abraham who took Lot from a nobody, to the place of great possessions, what will be running through your mind when Lot chose the best for himself? Do you think you would want to have anything to do with him for the rest of your life?

Well, the truth is that, men of the Spirit are not moved by the seeming progress report of the carnally minded. They understand that the spiritual rules the physical, and that God will never leave them stranded, neither will He allow their faithfulness go unrewarded.

If you have been faithfully serving the purpose of God, and it seems like not much has happened, don't be anxious. Your moment of glory is closer than you can imagine. There are blessings beyond your imaginations and calculations. Let God be your chief aim and one desire, then watch what follows. Just make sure your heart is determined to bring Him glory.

Get ready! It is going to come for those who will actually glorify His name with what He will give to them. This is for those who have proposed in their hearts to serve Him, like Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego proposed in their hearts not to defile themselves with a portion of the Kings meat. These Hebrew boys went through what looked unreasonable eating vegetables for the entire period of the training, not considering the five-star treatment the others were given. Does it look like you are foolish to follow the part of obedience? Don't give up, glory is on the way.

HYMN- TO GOD BE THE GLORY

NOVEMBER  29TH

TEXT: Psalm29:2; Romans11:36; Galatians 1:4, 5; Ephesians 3:21
So that with one heart and mouth, you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.            (Romans15:6)

To give glory to God should be the greatest desire of every Christian. Not only should this be the supreme goal for our individual lives, but it should also be true whenever we gather in our local churches. "in the presence of the congregation I will sing your praises"(Hebrews2:12). We must always be alert in recognizing God's leading in our midst and in acknowledging His hand of blessing upon our corporate endeavors-the "great things He hath taught us and the great things He hath done". Without this sensitive awareness and gratitude, churches, like individuals, can easily lose focus of their mission and develop a false sense of self-worth and sufficiency.

This fine gospel hymn first appeared in a Sunday school collection, Brightest and Best, compiled by William Doane and Robert Lowry in 1875. In 1952, the Billy Graham crusade team went to England, where they first made extensive use of the hymn in their meetings. It was an immediate success. Upon their return to the United States, they found the same enthusiastic response by American audiences. it has been a favorite hymn ev’ry since.

To God be the glory- great things he hath done1 so loved he the world that he gave us his son, who yielded his life an atonement for sin and opened the life gate that all may go in.

O! Perfect redemption, the purchase of blood! to ev'ry believer the promise of God; the vilest offender who truly believes, that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done, and great our rejoicing thru Jesus the son; but purer and higher and greater will be our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

CHORUS: Praise the lord, praise the lord, let the earth hear his voice! Praise the Lord, praise the Lord let the people rejoice! O come to the Father thru Jesus the son, and give Him the glory-great things He hath done.

TEXT: Genesis 13:9-18 King James Version (KJV)

18 Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord.

When Lot followed his selfish desires, it was as though he had gone ahead of Abraham in life, but he did not know that he had settled for a cursed place. There are many who have left their place of service for that which is devoid of the presence and favor of God, but they think life is good, how unfortunate!

For those who are patient enough to wait on the Lord like Abraham, pay day is coming. There are going to be strange and awesome miracles, God is set to bless us beyond our imagination and calculation. Just the way the Lord spoke to Abraham after Lot left, God is ready to call forth the blessings of the man that is faithful to follow heaven's agenda.

If you have not seen any sign of it yet, just be patient, there is glory ahead.

Does it seem like others who followed their wisdom and canal reasoning have gone ahead of you? Don't worry, God has not forgotten, He will come through for you. Relax, God is always in control.

UNDERSTANDING THE WORD (PART 2)

TEXT: Genesis 13:9-13 King James Version (KJV)

We are living in a time when everyone want to prove that they are better and more prosperous than others, hence, the unnecessary subtle competition. Those in the house of God are not exempted, and this is because so many do not understand that when God gives a prophetic word, there are conditions attached.

The people God is set to bless are those who have evidence of the glory in their lives, those who have made up their minds to stand firmly for God. There is a greater dimension of glory coming. Whether the world has an economic crunch or not, one thing that is obvious for the righteous is glory, for the road the righteous travels is like sun rise, getting brighter and brighter unto a perfect day.

Be careful not to end up like Lot who followed after that which looks lucrative. The major problem with Lot was that he was selfish and these are my reasons; It is true that it was Abraham who told him to leave, but if he was wise, he would have considered the fact that he could not have come that for in life without Abraham. In stead, he took time to select the greener pastures for himself, and wasted no time in settling down in Sodom.

Where are you today in God's agenda? If you let God lead, you are going to be launched into the place that has been destined for you, for it is your moment of glory. Wait on the Lord. Where the Lord is taking you has nothing to do with you making yourself qualified by virtue of your abilities, but by virtue of your being in His will. Once you are rightly positioned, the blessings will break forth upon your life.

UNDERSTANDING THE WORD (PART 1)

NOVEMBER  26TH.

TEXT: John 6:62-63 King James Version (KJV)

62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?

63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

At the closing of the year 2014, the Lord laid these declarations in my heart. "Towards the close of this year into next year (2015), a lot of things will happen economically, but all you need to do is stay where God is. If you leave where God has placed you to where God has judged, you will go down with the people."

A careful examination of the above declaration will reveal to you that only God could have made that possible. The prevailing economic hardship all over the world is alarming and it is obvious that there are places that are badly hit by this challenge. There are places that were once very lucrative to be in, but today people are struggling to survive there. From the word given, we were warned against making hasty decisions without seeking the face of God.

Lot left Abraham, and went to the well-watered garden of Sodom and Gomorrah, by the time God rained judgement on Sodom, he was running out of it with his life. Unfortunately, he lost all his wealth and his wife. He came of out Sodom with just his life and two daughters, every other thing was lost. Be careful what you settle for, seek God’s face, do not be in haste to conclude, because haste can cause you to make decisions that are not the will of God. It was clearly stated that the only way of escape is for you to be able to recognize where the presence of God is and stay there. If you will be able to die to your fleshy tendencies and ambitions, you will be able to escape the ensnarement of your soul.

Take note that we are warned about settling for a place under God's judgement; that will require a lot of sensitivity to discern. Some people right now think they are better and more fortunate than others because of where they are, but when the judgement of God visits such a place they will be fortunate to come out alive like Lot. Don't be in a hurry to arrive in life. Wait on the Lord, He is never late.

LIFE IN THE SPIRIT (PART 2)

NOVEMBER. 25TH

TEXT: Matthew 5:1-8Amplified Bible (AMP)
The Sermon on the Mount; The Beatitudes

5 When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and when He was seated, His [a]disciples came to Him. 2 Then He began to teach them, saying,

3 “Blessed [spiritually prosperous, happy, to be admired] are the poor in spirit [those devoid of spiritual arrogance, those who regard themselves as insignificant], for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [both now and forever].

4 “Blessed [forgiven, refreshed by God’s grace] are those who mourn [over their sins and repent], for they will be comforted [when the burden of sin is lifted].

5 “Blessed [inwardly peaceful, spiritually secure, worthy of respect] are the [b]gentle [the kind-hearted, the sweet-spirited, the self-controlled], for they will inherit the earth.

6 “Blessed [joyful, nourished by God’s goodness] are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness[those who actively seek right standing with God], for they will be [completely] satisfied.

7 “Blessed [content, sheltered by God’s promises] are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.

8 “Blessed [anticipating God’s presence, spiritually mature] are the pure in heart [those with integrity, moral courage, and godly character], for they will see God.

Life is much more than what we see or know. Most of us are more concerned about the physical dimension of life than the actual reality which is the life in the spirit, yes I mean the spiritual realm of life. Before each one of us became a soul upon the face of the earth we existed in the mind of God who graciously gave us the opportunity to be conceived in the womb of our earthly parents.

The problem is that once we were conceived by our earthly parents, we lose touch with eternal dimension of our soul and we are made partakers of the fallen Adamic nature that cuts us off our divine nature (Rom. 3:23). As infants, we still have some degree of connectivity with our spiritual nature that is why a child can see and hear things that an adult cannot see or hear. But as the child becomes more mature we gradually lose that connectivity.

For any adult to be able to walk in the things of the spirit, it is expected that, that individual must first of all become like a child again. That soul must learn to become innocent in heart again to be able to see God. Remember, blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. If you want the walk in the supernatural, then become like a child.

LIFE IN THE SPIRIT (PART 1)

NOVEMBER 24TH

Matthew 5:1-8 Amplified Bible (AMP)

The Sermon on the Mount; The Beatitudes

5 When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and when He was seated, His [a]disciples came to Him. 2 Then He began to teach them, saying,

8 “Blessed [anticipating God’s presence, spiritually mature] are the pure in heart [those with integrity, moral courage, and godly character], for they will see God.

Every soul that is hungry for the glory of God knows where to find it. The word of God says, “Blessed are those who do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled.” Matt.5:6. In the heart of every soul there is this hunger for God, it is just that so many have allowed their canal man to dominate their desire. Any soul who truly desire to walk with God can, but there will be some price to pay.

Many Christians have a head knowledge of what the Lord wants them to do and they can even preach or teach the word of God about it, quoting scriptures, but life in the spirit is much more than that. There is something on your inside that cannot be satisfied without the glory, as your heart craves for Him nothing else will do. But if you are looking for fame, prestige or something other than the glory, then your ability to release a bunch of scriptures will become your ultimate. Except there is a genuine hunger and drive in your heart to serve God no matter what, you can settle for anything.

Anyone of us can walk in the spirit, our past notwithstanding, but the question to answer is if we truly desire to walk in the spirit. Any life that has been in the house of God without a reasonable progress, spiritually, intellectually and physically has only been on a religious ride. Get real with God and the glory will manifest.

THE WISDOM OF GOD (PART 10)

NOVEMBER 23RD

TEXT: John 2:1-10 King James Version (KJV)

2 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

The sensitivity of a man to divine instructions is a game changer any day, any time. There was no way Mary could have positioned the servants to partake in the making of the miracle if she was not sensitive to acknowledge the grace upon Jesus. It was obvious that embarrassment was eminent and just when it seems nothing can be done about it, she simply said to the servant, “Whatever he ask you to do, do it”.

This is amazing because many of us are not even careful enough to take serious the instructions given to us. For people like this, they feel more comfortable to do just what they want and how they want it.

Simply waiting for an instruction that does not exist is an unusual confidence and faith that shows absolute dependence on the Lord. So many of us have failed to succeed in life because when we have not heard from God on a particular issue, we do not care to seek God’s face to be sure that we are on the right path. For any wise soul, when you have not heard from the Lord, you know very well that it is dangerous to step out in your wisdom. The major difference between David and many other king of Israel, was that he did nothing until he heard from God.

When the servants heard the words of Mary, they took it seriously and stood there waiting. It is this kind of submission that has the ability to provoke the release of divine direction that leads to the path of glory. Open your heart to the leading of the Holy Spirit and you will begin to encounter that which only God can do.

HYMN- NOW THANK WE ALL OUR GOD

NOVEMBER 22ND

TEXT: 1 Chronicles 16:36; Psalms 147; 1 Corinthians 15:57, 58.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? NO, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us (Romans 8:35, 37)

From some of the severest human sufferings imaginable during the 30 years' war of 1618-48-a war that has been described as the most devastating in all history- This great hymn of the church was born.

Martin Rinkart was called at the age of 31 to pastor the state Lutheran church in his native city of Eilenberg, Germany. He arrived there just as the dreadful bloodshed of the 30 years' war began, and there Rinkart spent the remaining 32 years of his life faithfully ministering to these needy people.

Germany, the battle ground of this conflict between warring catholic and state of misery that baffles description. The German population dwindled from 16 million to 6 million. Because Eilenberg was a wild city, it became a frightfully over-crowded refuge for political and military fugitives from far and near. Throughout this war years several waves of deadly diseases and famines swept the city as the various armies marched through the town, leaving death and destruction in their wake. The plague of 1637 was particularly severe. At its height Rinkart was the only minister remaining to care for the sick and dying.

Martin Rinkart's triumphant, personal expressions of gratitude and confidence in God confirmed for each of us this true thought in scripture, that as God's children, we too can be “more than conquerors through him who loved us".

Now thank we all our God with hearts and hands and voices, who wondrous things hath done, in whom His world rejoices; who from our mothers' arms hath blessed us on our way with countless gifts of love, and still is ours today.

O may this bounteous God thru all our life be near us, with ever joyful hearts and blessed peace to cheer us; and keep us in grace, and guide us when perplexed, and free us from all ills in this world and the next.

All praise and thanks to God the father now be given, the son and Him who reigns with them in highest heaven- the one eternal God whom earth and heav'n adore-for thus it was, is now, and shall be forevermore.

THE WISDOM OF GOD (PART 9)

NOVEMBER 21st

As we bring this series to a close, it is imperative to draw our attention to the fact that our strong emphasis on this teaching had been the need to follow simple instructions and to act by “simple faith in God”.

Our faith in God is not in the religious activities we observe or the religious body we belong to, but a simple child-like trust in God that can be seen in this passage.

Any faith you express that is built on your intellectual capability or wisdom is not the faith we speak of here. The faith we speak of is the faith that sees the Lord as the only answer, not one of those options.

Considering the challenge confronting the bride and groom during their wedding reception, it was obvious that embarrassment and shame was eminent but by the guests they have invited to their celebration, they played a part in inviting the solution. Though it was not the appointed time for Jesus to manifest the miraculous dimension of his ministry, the faith of Mary and the servants pulled the future into the moment they were living in. They were truly blessed to have Mary present, as her simple faith became a game changer. With her, there was no other consideration or options. Her first and last inclination was to take the problem to Jesus, She just knew that this can only be taken care of by a miracle and that no other can make this happen but Jesus. Those who have made up their minds for some other alternatives often negate the process that activates the miraculous. Let God be your first and last option.

THE WISDOM OF GOD (PART 8)

NOVEMBER 20TH

There is a role our confidence in the Lord plays to fast track our miracle. When you consider the things that precedes the miracle in our passage, you will find out that the future that was not yet in existence was pulled back into the present to exist by simple faith. If we would live our lives before the Lord in similar simple faith, we will be able to see amazing miracles in our days. Part of our problem is that we are too mature to simply believe. It is unfortunate that what we call maturity today is actually skepticism or doubtful dispositions which make walking by simple faith difficult. God is more readily available than our religious understanding portray him. What most of us need is the simple child-like faith. Not the faith of complicated grammar and oratory. Just simply trust Him to be God and you will see his glory transform your circumstances.

When Mary told the servants “Whatever he ask you to do, do it” she showed an unusual child-like faith and confidence in the Lord that reveals to us some aspect of her personality and faith. It was such a simple but confident faith that for her, she is not willing to do anything except the Lord says so. She was just expectant that she did not even think of suggesting possible options on how to handle the situation. She simply said, “Do whatever he ask you to do”. The problem of many people is that they know so much that they don’t need to ask God for instructions and that is the reason why they are where they are. The word of God makes us to understand that if you claim to be wise, then you will cut off the wisdom of God and be left to walk in your foolishness. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and He will direct your part.

THE WISDOM OF GOD (PART 7)

NOVEMBER 19TH

TEXT: 2 Kings 5:9-14King James Version (KJV)

9 So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.

10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.

11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the Lord his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.

12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.

13 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?

14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

When the troubles of life, sickness and disease overwhelms a soul like it did with Naaman, there seem to be little hope left in many, but we must learn to never give up easily. From the story of Naaman, we learnt that it was the little slave girl from Israel that made him know that he can find help in Israel. If he had looked down on the suggestion from the little slave girl, he could have ignored his own miracle. Sometimes, God does make use of people we may consider to be insignificant and if we are willing to humble ourselves we will see the glory of God.

From the story of Naaman, it became obvious that it was after they have applied all other medical options without a tangible result that they began to consider other options. It is very possible that if he was told at the very beginning that he should go over to Israel for prayers he would have considered it an insult. Here is the reason why I think so, from the way he reacted in anger to the instruction that he should go to the river Jordan to wash we can tell what his reaction would have been. In his speech it became clear that he considered the river in Syria to be far better than the river Jordan. Until most people have tried several other options they will not take serious a simple instruction from God. Simple faith in God will give you rest from every trouble (Ish. 26:3).

Sometimes, all we need to do is to acknowledge the place of the Holy Spirit in our lives and simply trust him to do what we cannot do for ourselves. By a complete surrender, demonstrate to Him that we are totally dependent on Him. Don’t be wise in your own way. Your wisdom is not just good enough to make it in life. Take refuge under the wings of Jehovah and you will begin to sense the glory of God. May you not become an easy prey for the enemy. Put your trust in God with all your heart and you will be amazed the glory that will follow

THE WISDOM OF GOD (PART 6)

NOVEMBER 18TH

TEXT: John 2:1-10King James Version (KJV)

In the story found in our text for today, we often fail to commend the servants who in my opinion played a very important role in helping to make this miracle at the wedding in Cana possible. In the first place, it must require a good degree of patience for them to take Mary serious when she told them to do whatever Jesus would tell them to do. In my understanding of the story, once Mary said so, she walked away leaving the servants with Jesus. We are not told how long they waited for Jesus to make up his mind, since he had said it was not yet time. If these servants were some of us, they would have said, “well, there is no use waiting, since Jesus said it was not time”, but they did not do that, they simply waited till he made up his mind. When he finally made up his mind, he told them to do something way out of the question. They were hoping he will give them money to go get some wine or at least show them how to get some, instead he told them to fill the water pots with water. Amazingly, they went on with the instruction without questioning his intention. Another thing that caught my attention about these servants is the fact that their hearts were ready and willing to obey the instruction to the very end. They did not only fill the pots with water, they filled it to the brim, which was an uncommon response, considering the challenge at hand. Today, it is even difficult to find tongue talking Christians who are willing to carry out simple instructions not to speak of going the extra mile to ensure that it is well executed.

So many persons have walked away from the manifestation of their miracles because they felt like they know too much. Such persons often lack the patience and wisdom to obey what they consider “unreasonable instructions” like the one given by Jesus and are unable to wait to see this kind of miracle become a reality. Just as the role of these servants was very important in making this miracle a reality, so also is the role of people with a willing heart in the making of miracles. Can the Lord find you helpful in making a miracle possible? Think about this.

In life it is expected that everyone should be able to make good use of what we call “common sense”, yet there is a limit to where common sense can take you in life. In the natural, if you are very smart, common sense can help you make some progress. But to truly excel in life in an exceptional dimension, you need much more than common sense; you need the wisdom of God which often does not make sense. If you live your life by just the things that make sense you will end up with conventional results, only those who can connect with divine wisdom are able to archive extraordinary results.

In life, common sense is applied by reason of the level of understanding a man has gathered by the normal, natural experiences of life. But those who function by divine wisdom do so by the faith they have developed through deep insight from the scriptures in an intimate walk with God. In our passage for today, when Mary approached Jesus, she was not applying common sense, but an uncommon wisdom and understanding through experiential fellowship with the word of God personified in the person called Jesus. Except you have an experiential walk with the Lord, you cannot recognise the opportunities available to you like Mary did. Your access to Jesus is the greatest opportunity of your life, do everything to always make the most of this access and you will be amazed the things that will follow. It is useless for you to keep trying to fix the problem that is beyond your power. Save yourself the shame and embarrassment by asking the Lord for help.

THE WISDOM OF GOD (PART 4)

 NOVEMBER 16TH

TEXT: John 2:1-10, 2 Kings 5:9-14 Amplified Bible (AMP)

So Naaman came with his horses and chariots and stopped at the entrance of Elisha’s house. 10 Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh will be restored to you and you will be clean.” 11 But Naaman was furious and went away and said, “Indeed! I thought ‘He would at least come out to [see] me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place [of leprosy] and heal the leper.’ 12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus [in Aram], better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage. 13 Then his servants approached and said to him, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he has said to you, ‘Wash, and be clean?’” 14 So he went down and plunged himself into the Jordan seven times, just as the man of God had said; and his flesh was restored like that of a little child and he was clean.

John 2:1-10 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Miracle at Cana

On the third day there was a wedding at Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there; and both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. When the wine was all gone, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “[a]They have no more wine.” Jesus said to her, “[Dear] woman, [b]what is that to you and to Me? My time [to act and to be revealed] has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” Now there were six stone waterpots set there for the Jewish custom of purification (ceremonial washing), containing twenty or thirty gallons each. Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the waterpots with water.” So they filled them up to the brim. Then He said to them, “Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter [of the banquet].” So they took it to him. And when the headwaiter tasted the water which had turned into wine, not knowing where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew) he called the bridegroom, 10 and said to him, “Everyone else serves his best wine first, and when people have [c]drunk freely, then he serves that which is not so good; but you have kept back the good wine until now.”

There are so many Christians who have the boldness to condemn the instructions of their pastors/ leaders because they cannot make sense with what he asked them to do. If they were the servants at the wedding feast at Cana, they would have walked off to occupy themselves with some other things around. How is it that you are given a simple instruction but just because it does not fit into your own definition of sense or wisdom you went off to your own thing? How much of your wisdom has been able to take you far in life?

Learn from the word of God in Ecclesiastes 9:11, “… the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong, neither is bread to the wise nor riches to men of intelligence and understanding nor favour to men of skill but time and chance happens to them all.” If it is by the wisdom of men those with academic degrees like doctorate and the professors would be the richest people on earth, but the truth is that the list of the world richest is filled with individuals who did the unconventional to record the extraordinary. When they followed the seemingly foolish instruction that led to the turnaround for their lives others thought they were crazy.

It is on record that the worlds’ first billionaire John D Rockefeller was known to be an incurable tither who went from tithing 10% to giving 90% of his profit and instead of going bankrupt he became very rich. Do you want to succeed in life? Just follow the leading and instruction of God for your life without being too “reasonable” and you will be amazed the results that will follow. Let the Lord lead and the glory will follow.

HYMN- COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

NOVEMBER  15TH

TEXT: Psalm28:7; 68:19; 69:30, 31; James1:17

Memory Verse: Praise be to the God and father of our lord Jesus Christ, Who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. (Ephesians 1:3)

For the Christian, gratitude should be a life attitude.

"Count your blessings" was written by one of the prolific gospel song writers of the past century, a Methodist lay preacher named Johnson Oatman. In addition to his preaching and the writing of more than 5,000 hymn texts, Oatman was also a successful business man, engaged in a shipping business and in his later years as an administrator for a large insurance company in New Jersey.

It is good for each of us periodically to take time to rediscover the simple but profound truths expressed by Mr. Oatman in the four stanzas of this hymn. in the first two verses, he develops the thought that counting our blessings serves as an antidote for life's discouragements and in turn makes us victorious Christian living. The third stanza of this hymn teaches us that counting our blessings can be a means of placing material possessions in proper perspective when compared to the inheritance awaiting believers. Then as we review our individual blessings, we certainly would have to agree with Mr. Oatman's fourth verse the provision of God's help and comfort to the end of our earthly pilgrimage is one of our choicest blessings.

Each of us could spare ourselves much despair and inner tensions if we would only learn to apply the practical teaching of this hymn to our daily living.

When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed,

when you are discourage, thinking all is loosed,

count your many blessings-name them one by one,

and it will surprise you what the lord hath done.

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?

Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?

Count your many blessings-ev'ry doubt will fly,

and you will be singing as the days go by.

When you look at others with their lands and gold,

think that Christ has promised you his wealth untold;

count your many blessings-money cannot buy

your reward in heaven nor your home on high.

So amid the conflict, weather great or small,

do not be discouraged. God is over all;

count your many blessings- angels will attend,

help and comfort gives you to your journey's end
.

CHORUS: count your blessings-name them one by one; count your blessings- see what God hath done.

Life can be more interesting and easy if we would just let the Lord lead us unto glory. Often when the Lord is ushering many of us  into our moments of glory we find it difficult to obey because we believe we have better ideas. Mary the mother of Jesus was able to learn the wisdom in being foolish in her resolve to follow God early, that was why she told the servants, Whatever He ask you to do, just do it. Too many of us will not do just what is required of us, we think we are wiser, so we will wait to do it our own way and time.

Some others will edit the instruction to their own taste, but partial obedience is disobedience. This was what was responsible for the fall of the first king of Israel, Saul. If you don’t want to end up like Saul and his kind it will be wise for you to follow the seemingly foolish instructions of God and let Him decide what follows.

The glory in many lives have been cut short because too many of us are too smart. So many would have gone far in their progress in life but for their smartness. Beloved, humble yourself and see the glory of God transform your life from glory to glory. Shalom!

No one walking by his own wisdom is able to produce any supernatural results. This is where the foolishness of God is greater and more impactful than the wisdom of man.

The reason why many are far from great supernatural manifestation is because they are only willing to obey instructions that make sense, but it is often those unreasonable leading that gives birth to uncommon results.

If Naaman had left in his anger when he was told to go over to the Jordan to wash seven times he would have missed his miracle. But for the intervention of one of his servants, his reasoning was about to cut short his miracle. He was in need of a serious miracle yet in his pride he was expecting the man of God to honour him by coming out to attend to him by waving his hand over him. When he got a simple instruction to go and wash he became offended. Again, in his pride he was offended that he was told to go and wash in a river that is not as clean as the once in Syria. It is amazing that people who are in need of serious help are the ones who want to tell you how you must get it done. If you are full of your own ways chances are that you will miss out in God’s agenda for your life. It is often those who think they are wise that end up showing how foolish their wisdom is. Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God and see the glory that will follow.

Beloved, sometimes, in life we need to act as though we are foolish to be able to see the glory of God manifest in our lives. Some times we need the child-like trust to be able to see divine instructions become divine manifestation. At first this will look like a waste of time, but they often leads us into the fulfilment of our destiny. God is willing to settle your destiny and cause you to rise to a place of glory if you will be willing to leave your wisdom for that which looks foolish in your eyes.

It is my prayer that you begin to see His glory revealed in your life as you follow divine instructions. We have seen sickness and diseases healed in His presence as people follow simple instructions. When a divine word is given, grace is released to make the impossible become possible. Some times, people actually get their miracles as the act in obedience to the word of God. In the same meeting where some persons are waiting for the man of God to touch them some others are quick to follow simple instructions to walk not their blessings. Our text for today is a good example. Please don’t let your wisdom or pride cut you off from the glory of God. Do just what He ask you to do.

RESOLUTE IN STAYING RELEVANT (PART 2)

NOVEMBER 11TH

TEXT: John 15:1-5 King James Version (KJV)

15 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Some of us are not ready to commit ourselves to God, but He is saying if we will spend time in His presence, glory will rest upon us. If you will dedicate yourself to Him, darkness cannot manipulate you.

Someone is anointed because of the presence of God. The anointing of God upon him releases power on his word and when he speaks there is authority. The more time a man spends with God, the more of His presence rubs off on him. On the other hand, the less time you spend with Him, the more obscured his presence will become in your life and if you continue in your descent, you will begin to run on an empty tank. At such a time, you cannot function right; you begin to say things you should not say and do things you should not do. This person will soon become insensitive to God’s presence.

If you are to do things to manifest His power and glory, then you must have a consistently intimate relationship with the Lord that is continually on the increase. Don’t be satisfied with remaining at one level for so long, move on to higher dimension of walk with the Lord. When a man has this kind of walk with the Lord he can hear God any time anywhere and is able to know what to do because he is continually hearing from the Holy Spirit. It is not enough to hear the Holy Spirit in your prayer time, you should get to the place where you can boldly say He walks with me and talks with me. Our Lord Jesus was always in touch with the Father that is why He said, it is what I see my Father do that I do. He was able to successfully complete His assignment because He has an unbroken intimate relationship with the Father.

So many of us have lost that intimacy. After Moses left the tent of meeting, Joshua would stay behind, he did not leave and so when it was time for someone to take over from Moses, it was obvious it had to be Joshua. This year, the Lord is looking for those who will run continuously with the glory. Only those who have this kind of intimacy can testify of glory and rest. God is waiting for you.

RESOLUTE IN STAYING RELEVANT (PART 1)

NOVEMBER 10TH

TEXT: 1 Samuel 16:12-14 Amplified Bible (AMP)

David Anointed

12 So Jesse sent word and brought him in. Now he had a ruddy complexion, with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. The Lord said [to Samuel], “Arise, anoint him; for this is he.” 13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed David in the presence of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

14 Now the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented and terrified him.

When Samuel anointed David, the presence of the Lord came upon him from that day forward. At that same instance, the presence of the Lord departed from Saul. Sometimes we think God does not know what we are doing when we mess up and He forgives us again and again. We feel God understands that we want to serve Him but our flesh is weak, so we go into sin again and again. Just because you still have some elements of God’s grace upon your life does not mean God has permitted you to go on in sin. The truth is that such persons often gets to a point where the Lord will withdraw His hands from their lives as He did with Saul. Most of the time, when this happens, the fellow is unable to notice it and like Samson, they still be busy with activities but they are only running on a reserved tank.

Where are you in your walk with God?

Some people who have been rejected from reigning in life are still occupying a physical throne like King Saul. Even though he was still reigning as King, God had rejected him.

Many of the time, when a man is busy with his evil ways, in his thinking he says, God is merciful but what he very ignorant about is the fact that God is already working a plan B will take the place of the persons. May that not be your portion.

We must come acknowledge that we all do not have the same measure of grace and mercy. There is a measure of grace for each of us determined. When we keep messing up like King Saul did, the measure of grace upon our lives diminishes. But because we still have access to be part of the things of God, and think we are smart and that is when we dry up.

The journey of life is long and full of many danger, that’s why you need the glory, it will keep you going like fuel in your tank. Let God be glorified in your life

LIBERATE YOURSELF FROM A SLAVISH MENTALITY (PART 6)

NOVEMBER. 9TH

TEXT: Romans 8:14-19 Amplified Bible (AMP)

14 For all who are allowing themselves to be led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading again to fear [of God’s judgment], but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons [the Spirit producing sonship] by which we [joyfully] cry, “[a]Abba! Father!”

16 The Spirit Himself testifies and confirms together with our spirit [assuring us] that we [believers] are children of God.

17 And if [we are His] children, [then we are His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His spiritual blessing and inheritance], if indeed we share in His suffering so that we may also share in His glory.

18 For I consider [from the standpoint of faith] that the sufferings of the present life are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us and in us!

19 For [even the whole] creation [all nature] waits eagerly for the children of God to be revealed.

There is a limit to which the power of darkness can hold a man captive. The word of the Lord says, the entrance of the word gives light and understanding to the simple. When a man’s’ life is saturated with the word of God he becomes flooded with divine light and suddenly he will begin to conceive ideas that transform into liberating force to release him to a greater dimension of glory. What you carry on the inside determines how far you can go in life. When Mary got overshadowed by the power of the Most high, she became saturated with the glory of God.

The Scripture says as soon as Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the baby in her womb leaped for joy. Mary walked in loaded with the liberating power of God and the unborn John the Baptist felt the anointing.

No man becomes full with the presence of God and remains the same. At this time Mary was pregnant with Jesus, she was pregnant with the glory of God. If you are full of the glory, everything that comes out of you will become glorious. There is a glory on your inside waiting to be made manifest, your generation is waiting for you. If the Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, that same Spirit will quicken, empower your mortal body (Rom. 8:11).

If you have got the glory, then you are among the ones to write a new chapter in the history of your generation for the next five years and beyond. So do not write yourself off with a slavish mentality, your generation is waiting for your light. Rise up and make history. When the light of God’s glory is on you, people cannot ignore you anymore. It is your time and God is determined to do something awesome in your life. Ask the Lord for help and He will fill you with His glory.
