TEXT: 2 Kings
2:1-3, 9-12 King James Version (KJV)
1. And it came to
pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that
Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
2. And
Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to
Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I
will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel.
3. And the
sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto
him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day?
And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
9. And it
came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what
I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray
thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
10. And he
said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am
taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
11. And it
came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a
chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah
went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
12. And Elisha
saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the
horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes,
and rent them in two pieces.
Most
of the time, life changing meetings do not look attractive to many. Only those
who are hungry for God with a burning desire are able to sense the move of the
Spirit. When a man is propelled by his hunger for God, he becomes empowered to
blaze the trail for others to follow. Trail blazers are persons who have
something burning on their inside. They can also be called path finders,
because they are able to create a path where there is none. When you are lined
up doing what every other person is doing, you cannot blaze the trail for
others to follow. But when you are focused following God, some like the sons of
the prophets may wonder if anything good can come out from your dedication, but
do not fret because the Lord will not fail to reward you. You have not come
this far by chance, but by divine ordering. Focus on what will transform and
change your life forever. When the sons of the prophet saw the Jordan river
open up for Elisha to pass through, they came and bowed down before him. In
like manner, when your moment of glory comes, those who thought you were
wasting your time will come bowing before you. The word of the Lord tells us
that as we keep our focus on the Lord Jesus, beholding His face, we are being
transformed from glory to glory. If you want to rise to a new dimension of
glory, keep your eyes on the Lord. Refuse to be distracted by anyone or
anything. keep your eyes on Him and your life will begin to witness glorious
transformation. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Keep your focus on
the Lord Jesus and you will be amazed the glory that will take over your life.
God has great plans for you. Don’t give up.
