AMBITIONS AND
SUBMITION (5)
TEXT: Judges
14:12-14 (AMP)
12 And Samson said to them, I will now put forth a riddle to you; if you can tell me what it is within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty linen undergarments and thirty changes of raiment.
13 But if you cannot declare it to me, then shall you give me thirty linen undergarments and thirty changes of festive [costly] raiment. And they said to him, Put forth your riddle, that we may hear it.
14 And he said to them, Out of the eater came forth food, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not solve the riddle in three days.

Some times in life the
availability of great potentials and resources has led to the destruction of
lives, properties and the destiny of a people much more than a lack of such
blessings. In the abundance of much money not many have been careful in their
spending. In the availability of great potentials not many have been careful
enough to remain humble. With great blessing many have become too arrogant and
careless. from the riddle of Samson as found in our text, a careful study will
unravel to us some resinous lesions of life. He had said “Out of the eater came
forth food, and out of the strong came forth sweetness.” although he was
speaking of the Lion he had killed on the way as the eater and the honey found
in it after some days as the sweetness from the strong, his own life reveals a
paradox. The tremendous strength upon him was meant to deliver his people from
the oppression of their enemy (the Philitines) but he used it to serve his own
ambitions (though the Lord will often use it to work out his own purpose). “...out
of the strong came forth sweetness.” Samson was strong but his life lacking
sweetness for his people. There are a few persons who know they are highly
gifted or talented who are careful enough to truly submits to the way of the
Lord. They are strong and mighty with great achievements yet they are still
very approachable and humble.
Out of
the strong came forth sweet- they know how to be bold to accomplish great
things and can be seen as a worrior but inspite of their exploits and
achievements they are still sweet, approachable and humble.
