TEXT: Psalm 110:1-3King James Version (KJV)
110 The Lord said
unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy
footstool.
2 The Lord shall
send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine
enemies.
3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy
power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the
dew of thy youth.
Verse two of our text for today makes us realize that the scepter
of our strength comes from Zion. What is the significance of Zion? Zion speaks
of the city or presence of God. The place where God is worshipped. It is
significant of singing, prayer and sacrifice. It is the city of the living God
which happens to be Jerusalem in the physical. But for an individual, it speaks
of the place of your communion with God. It is the place where you fellowship
with God till you are empowered from on high. I believe this is one reason
Jesus told his disciples to go to Jerusalem to wait till they are empowered by
the Holy Spirit (see Luke 24: 49, Acts 1:8, 2:1-4). Do you take time out from the various things clamoring
for your attention, to spend time with God? Those who are guided by their
senses will not be able to go far. But the people that do know their God shall
be strong and do exploits (Dan 11:32). They are the ones empowered to rule in
the midst of their enemies (Psalm 110:2).
Don’t be left behind. Do something tangible to see God lift
you from glory to glory.
