TEXT: 2 Chronicles 19:1-3, 20:1, 20 King James Version (KJV)
19 And
Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem.
2 And
Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king
Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the Lord?
therefore is wrath upon thee from before the Lord.
3 Nevertheless
there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast taken away the groves
out of the land, and hast prepared thine heart to seek God.
20 It came
to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon,
and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.
20 And they rose early
in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went
forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of
Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your
God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Some times in life, our association
with a soul that is out of favour with God may become the breeding ground for
certain misfortunes in our lives. This is the reason why we need to consider
our decisions seriously before we step out to act. A careful study of this
story will reveal to you that it was after Jehoshaphat returned safely from
Ramoth-gilead, that things began to go from bad to worse for him. This was when
a seer came to him and told him God’s wrath was against him because he helped
the ungodly. Do not associate with those who are insolent against God, if you
do, you will get into trouble. It was because Jehoshaphat aligned with Ahab who
had no fear for God that three nations came against him in battle. Nothing just
happens.
Some of us are suffering because of the
associations we have entered into, or the allies we keep. Cut off any serious
relationship with people who do not love the Lord, otherwise you will attract
the judgement of God upon your work or business. I am not saying that you
should not talk with or treat them like a plague. Just do all you can to get
yourself out of error, for in the place of error you cannot walk in true Power
and Glory. Those who walk in error will certainly go down.
May God Help us...
