TEXT: 2
Chronicles 18:1-3, 28, 31, 34King James Version (KJV)
18 Now
Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab.
2 And after certain years he went down to
Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for
the people that he had with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to
Ramothgilead.
3 And Ahab king of
Israel said unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me to
Ramothgilead? And he answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy
people; and we will be with thee in the war.
To continually walk in power and glory,
you have to be sensitive to the plan and purpose of God for your life. Sometimes,
people miss the leading of God for their lives and suddenly things begin to go
wrong. If you once walked in the power and the glory of the Lord but right now
you are a far cry from that, you need to sit down and find out where you missed
it.
King Jehoshaphat was one King who loved
the Lord and obeyed His commandments and for this, the Lord made him to walk in
power and glory. The Lord blessed him with great riches and honor, but when he
became an ally of King Ahab, who through the influence of his wife led God’s
people into idolatry, he unknowingly walked into the judgement of God. Be
careful who you identify with.
There are some persons you should not
identify with, no matter their position or authority. Before you associate
yourself with anyone, take some time to look at their lives and see if they
love the Lord. Be double sure that they fear the Lord. See what their response
is like when they sin or miss the mark. Do they cry out for mercy like David or
defend themselves like Saul? Don’t make yourself comfortable with them because
of their position of wealth. Find out if they honor God with their position or
riches? Jehoshaphat made a mistake by going to see Ahab and deciding to go to
war with him at Ramoth-gilead and for this he almost lost his life.
Be careful around people who make your
flesh feel great because they can help mar your destiny and make you miss the
right path. Sometimes when you accept gifts from certain persons, they leave
you with no choice but to do what they want. Ahab disguised himself and told
Jehoshaphat to wear his royal robes and this almost got Jehoshaphat killed, but
for God’s help.
Do not embark on anything with a man
who is out of favour with God, because if anything should go wrong, you may end
up reaping part of the judgement. That is why some business ventures have
failed.
May you not be found in the wrong
places with the wrong persons. Jehoshaphat would have died in that battle, but
when he cried to God, God turned the enemy and the arrow meant for Ahab away
from him. There are some situations that God will have to disorganize this year
because He intends to deliver you from the judgement of the wicked. Every evil
arrow directed at you that was meant for the wicked will locate the owner in
Jesus name. Make this your prayer today.
