TEXT:
2 Peter 1:10-11 (AMP)
10 Because of this, brethren, be all the more solicitous and eager to make sure (to ratify, to strengthen, to make steadfast) your calling and election; for if you do this, you will never stumble or fall.
11 Thus there will be richly and abundantly provided for you entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
There is
nothing like a sure word from the Lord. The closing of verse 10 is such a
powerful promise yet not many can see the opportunity in it. It says “; for if
you do this, you will never stumble or fall.” What a promise? Has it
ever occurred to you that it is possible to a live an unending victorious
Christian life? It says you will never
fall. Yet it does point out that the individual has a role to play; if you do
this… therefore it is obvious that if you fail to do what is expected of you
then you will fail.
Somehow some people feel that God created and blessed some
people with certain advantages that makes them more successful than others but
this is not true. Most of the time, people who run to such conclusion are only
trying to explain away their weakness. The word says if you do this, you will
never fall. therefore you fell because you refused to do that which is expected
of you. When most student fail the secondary school certificate exams they will
say “They gave me…” but when they pass the exam in flying colours they will say
“I got or I scored…” in other words, failure is because they did not want you
to pass the exam but when the result is good it is because you know how to
answer the questions. If you fail to prepare for your exam you will fail just
the way you will fall if you fail to eagerly evaluate your spiritual journey to
see to it that you are on the right path of glory.
If you have veered off the
plan and purpose of God for your life, it will be wise for you to humble
yourself before God and ask for help.
