DON’T IGNORE YOUR SPIRITUAL COVERING (PART 4)

OCTOBER 23RD

TEXT: 2 Kings 13:14-17. King James Version (KJV)

14 Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.

15 And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.

16 And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands.

17 And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the Lord's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.

We have a lot to learn from our passage today. Those who desire true greatness and success in life have learnt to follow the leading and principles of God laid out in the scripture. If you truly desire grace you have to humble yourself before God and man, especially those the Lord has positioned as a covering over your life. If you make yourself proud before God, doors will be shut against you. As you obey the Lord in this area, you will be amazed how God will place certain persons in places that will make the difference for you. Don’t make the mistake of despising or looking down on some people because of certain weaknesses, acknowledge the grace upon them and see what happens. If the King had despised Elisha because he was sick, he would have despised the victory over his enemies. So, do not despise anyone, even if they look insignificant, because if you do, you may just be despising your destiny.

After King Jehoash acknowledged the grace of God upon Elisha, the prophet gave him instructions that guaranteed him victory. Elisha placed his hand on King Jehoash’s hand and instructed him to shoot with his bow and arrow. Elisha placing his hand on the King was one way of releasing divine backing on him. Even though the King had the bow and arrow, it would take the grace of God for him to be victorious over his strong enemy. So many of us want to shoot into the future without the support of God and that would be a big mistake. If those who serve idols would not move until they consult their native doctors why is it that most Christians are very careless?

Seek for the hand of God upon your life before you lunch out onto anything. Be double sure you have the backing of heaven.
