LIFE IN THE SPIRIT (PART 1)

NOVEMBER 24TH

Matthew 5:1-8 Amplified Bible (AMP)

The Sermon on the Mount; The Beatitudes

5 When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and when He was seated, His [a]disciples came to Him. 2 Then He began to teach them, saying,

3 “Blessed [spiritually prosperous, happy, to be admired] are the poor in spirit [those devoid of spiritual arrogance, those who regard themselves as insignificant], for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [both now and forever].

4 “Blessed [forgiven, refreshed by God’s grace] are those who mourn [over their sins and repent], for they will be comforted [when the burden of sin is lifted].

5 “Blessed [inwardly peaceful, spiritually secure, worthy of respect] are the [b]gentle [the kind-hearted, the sweet-spirited, the self-controlled], for they will inherit the earth.

6 “Blessed [joyful, nourished by God’s goodness] are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness [those who actively seek right standing with God], for they will be [completely] satisfied.

7 “Blessed [content, sheltered by God’s promises] are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.

8 “Blessed [anticipating God’s presence, spiritually mature] are the pure in heart [those with integrity, moral courage, and godly character], for they will see God.

Every soul that is hungry for the glory of God knows where to find it. The word of God says, “Blessed are those who do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled.” Matt.5:6. In the heart of every soul there is this hunger for God, it is just that so many have allowed their canal man to dominate their desire. Any soul who truly desire to walk with God can, but there will be some price to pay.

Many Christians have a head knowledge of what the Lord wants them to do and they can even preach or teach the word of God about it, quoting scriptures, but life in the spirit is much more than that. There is something on your inside that cannot be satisfied without the glory, as your heart craves for Him nothing else will do. But if you are looking for fame, prestige or something other than the glory, then your ability to release a bunch of scriptures will become your ultimate. Except there is a genuine hunger and drive in your heart to serve God no matter what, you can settle for anything.

Anyone of us can walk in the spirit, our past notwithstanding, but the question to answer is if we truly desire to walk in the spirit. Any life that has been in the house of God without a reasonable progress, spiritually, intellectually and physically has only been on a religious ride. Get real with God and the glory will manifest.
