THE WISDOM OF GOD (PART 8)

NOVEMBER 20TH

TEXT: John 2:1-10 King James Version (KJV)

2 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

There is a role our confidence in the Lord plays to fast track our miracle. When you consider the things that precedes the miracle in our passage, you will find out that the future that was not yet in existence was pulled back into the present to exist by simple faith. If we would live our lives before the Lord in similar simple faith, we will be able to see amazing miracles in our days. Part of our problem is that we are too mature to simply believe. It is unfortunate that what we call maturity today is actually skepticism or doubtful dispositions which make walking by simple faith difficult. God is more readily available than our religious understanding portray him. What most of us need is the simple child-like faith. Not the faith of complicated grammar and oratory. Just simply trust Him to be God and you will see his glory transform your circumstances.

When Mary told the servants “Whatever he ask you to do, do it” she showed an unusual child-like faith and confidence in the Lord that reveals to us some aspect of her personality and faith. It was such a simple but confident faith that for her, she is not willing to do anything except the Lord says so. She was just expectant that she did not even think of suggesting possible options on how to handle the situation. She simply said, “Do whatever he ask you to do”. The problem of many people is that they know so much that they don’t need to ask God for instructions and that is the reason why they are where they are. The word of God makes us to understand that if you claim to be wise, then you will cut off the wisdom of God and be left to walk in your foolishness. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and He will direct your part.
